Reasons to Watch

We can almost guarantee that you’ve never seen a movie like this. The Innocents follows four kids who become friends during summer break. While away from their parents, the kids discover that they have superpowers, and things slowly become more dark & dreadful, leading to a very effective slow-burn horror thriller.

A large majority of this film takes place out of their parents sight, and this is one if its key themes. Parents can sometimes prioritize other aspects of their lives over their children, leaving their children to the fend for themselves. We see these kids get into some very tense sitations that they have to manage on their own and it can often times be uncomfortable to see.

90% of this movie is acted by the kids, and they are incredible. The range of emotions they must portray during their acting feels natural and convincing. It’s hard to think of many recent films with such impressive child actors, especially in a horror film. The only film immediately coming to mind is Let the Right One In from 2008.

This is a refreshing film for the horror genre and is absolutely worth checking out.
