Reasons to Watch

“Cronos” is Guillermo del Toro’s directorial debut. The film effectively tells a unique and bizarre story about immortality. It also incorporates elements of other horror genres, but the central theme of immortality is all you need to know to avoid spoilers.

The plot is simple, and the limited number of characters lets you enjoy Federico Luppi’s and Ron Pearlman’s performances. Ron Pearlman plays the villain in Cronos, but he’s incredibly likable and brings some humor to his role, keeping the movie light and fairly easy to watch.

Cronos is by no means a scare fest but more of a slow-building, creepy story that holds up very well over time with its practical effects and effective storytelling. Check this one out if you don’t mind reading subtitles, and you’re a Del Toro fan.
