Our Take

This is an easy one. A Quiet Place 1 was a completely original film and did an amazing job of creating fear and tension without having to show much of the monster. This is the true sign of an effective movie. At the time, it was refreshing to watch a movie based on silence rather than the typical loud and clunky creature features.

In the sequel, you get a good look at the monsters, but overall it felt more like a companion piece to the first movie to tie everything together nicely for a potential third film. A Quiet Place 1 is easily the better of the two movies.
