Reasons to Watch

Imagine a dystopian future where people intentionally infect themselves with an illness to get closer to celebrities. This is the super interesting and creepy premise of Brandon Cronenberg’s Antiviral.

This insane level of celebrity worship takes place in a reality of cutthroat contracts and corporations, which adds a very impressive level of detail to the film. The more you learn about this industry, the more disgusted you feel about humanity. This is what makes Antiviral such a well-crafted horror film.

This was the debut film for Brandon Cronenberg, son of legendary horror director David Cronenberg. After this film, he went on to direct Possessor and Infinity Pool. Both of these films are deep dives into dark worlds, so if you enjoyed either of those films, you should check out Anti Viral.
